What Kim Kardashian & Kanye West’s Divorce Papers Reveal About Prenup

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have remained silent regarding their separation, even after the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star officially filed for divorce from the rapper. When taking a closer look at the filing, certain divorce documents share very interesting details about the former couple’s prenuptial agreement and how amicable their split actually was.

Overall, the KUWTK fans weren’t too shocked when Kim and Kanye’s divorce was announced, as it had been teased in the media for quite some time. It was a few weeks into 2021 when multiple reports claimed that “divorce is imminent” for the superstar couple after more than six years of marriage and four children together. It was December 2020 when reports first revealed the separate lives that the duo had been living following Kanye’s election loss. The tension rising between them became visible over the summer after the Yeezy founder launched his presidential campaign.

Now that Kim’s divorce filing has been revealed, it shows how well-planned and organized her divorce from Kanye has been. The SKIMS founder cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the divorce filing, shared by Hollywood Life. She also filed for joint custody of their four children, which includes legal and physical custody of North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm. The papers also show neither Kim nor Kanye had intentions to seek spousal support or fight over property. “Pursuant to the parties’ Premarital Agreement, all assets and obligations of each party are her/his separate property,” the divorce filing reads.

In the months leading up to their May 2014 wedding in Paris, details were revealed by Radar Online regarding the prenup that Kim and Kanye signed and agreed to. It was said that the KKW Beauty founder would receive $1 million for every year that she was married to Kanye and keep all of the gifts he gave her during their time together. Considering the recent divorce filing, it’s possible that Kim and Kanye have agreed to him giving her $6 million for the six total years they were together. The couple will also stay in their respective homes in Calabasas and Wyoming.

With Kim having custody of their kids, it’s likely that she will figure out how Kanye remains a present figure in their children’s lives. The “Stronger” rapper had already been estranged from his family in the months before the divorce filing. He has been living by himself on his ranch in Wyoming while Kim remained in California with the kids. Maybe Kanye will opt to visit LA to see his kids, or the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star will agree to allow them to go spend time with their dad in Wyoming.
