Kathryn Newton and Kyle Allen are reliving the same day in the trailer for The Map of Tiny Perfect Things. Newton recently gave a breakout performance in Freaky, and she’s set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Cassie Lang, while Allen is known to fans of American Horror Story. The duo hopes to bring their burgeoning star power to the time loop subgenre, which has experienced a clear resurgence in recent years.
The new trailer for The Map of Tiny Perfect Things offers a glimpse of that time loop conceit while also introducing audiences to the protagonists of the romcom. Mark (Allen) is in no rush to figure out his predicament, seemingly content to endlessly repeat the same day. Margaret (Newton) has the same idea, but their aspirations eventually clash. Set to make its Prime Video premiere on February 12, The Map of Tiny Perfect Things also stars Jermaine Harris, Anna Mikami, Josh Hamilton, Cleo Fraser, Jorja Fox, and Al Madrigal. The romcom is directed by Ian Samuels, who previously helmed Sierra Burgess Is a Loser. Lev Grossman wrote the screenplay, which is based on the short story of the same name.
The synopsis for The Map of Tiny Perfect Things reads as follows: Tells the story of quick-witted teen Mark, contentedly living the same day in an endless loop whose world is turned upside-down when he meets mysterious Margaret also stuck in the time loop. Mark and Margaret form a magnetic partnership, setting out to find all the tiny things that make that one day perfect. What follows is a love story with a fantastical twist, as the two struggle to figure out how – and whether – to escape their never-ending day.
