Bachelor Nation Welcomes New Host Emmanuel Acho With Open Arms

When fans of The Bachelor learned that Emmanuel Acho is replacing Chris Harrison on After the Final Rose, their opinions were split. But most of Bachelor Nation’s alum is excited for the new host. After the announcement, droves of former contestants and leads headed to Emmanuel’s Instagram to leave congratulatory comments and messages of support for the newest member of Bachelor Nation.

After Chris Harrison stepped down as host, following a controversy over racist comments, producers worked to make changes to the franchise. It was decided that a new host would be present at the post-finale special ATFR, and the network considered many options. Many thought ABC would appoint someone from within Bachelor Nation, but the network chose to pick someone from outside the franchise.

On Saturday, Emmanuel revealed that he was selected to host ATFR fans and his new Bachelor Nation family shared their excitement. Several previous Bachelors and Bachelorettes expressed enthusiasm for the decision. Becca Kufrin commented “best news, so happy for you!” and Nick Viall said “congrats!” as well. Rachel Lindsay had suggested Emmanuel as a suitable replacement for Chris Harrison. Her Instagram account has been deactivated, but her husband Brian Abasolo said “happy for your bro! I have no doubt you will do a fantastic job!” Even current Bachelor Matt James weighed in, saying he’s “looking forward to it.”

Previous contestants from the franchise also showered Emmanuel with support. Peter Kraus from Rachel Lindsay’s season said “Best decision this franchise has made! Congrats Emanuel! No better person for the job. Give em hell!” Olivia Caridi from Ben Higgins’ season added, “Soooo excited to watch you. Incredible news!” Even fan-favorite Mike Johnson from Hannah Brown’s season left several enthusiastic raised hands emojis.

Though some fans aren’t happy with the direction the franchise is going in, many are excited to see Emmanuel host the show. Some are even hoping Chris Harrison steps aside permanently so that Emmanuel could become the franchise’s full-time host. Adding someone new to the show could do much to reinvigorate the franchise, and selecting a host who is a person of color brings a fresh perspective and more diversity.

There are a few weeks left of The Bachelor before ATFR airs, so it remains to be seen how well Emmanuel will fit into the franchise. But if the members of Bachelor Nation are any indication, many fans are eager to see how Emmanuel will enrich the show. The series has been bordering on stale for some time, maybe some new blood is exactly what the franchise needs.
