Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania director Peyton Reed dropped a teaser for the film on Valentine’s Day. Reed is returning for the third Ant-Man film after directing the first two. Returning alongside Reed are Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, and Michelle Pfeiffer. New to the cast is Kathryn Newton (Freaky), who will be taking over the role of Cassie Lang from Emma Furhmann, who played the character in Avengers: Endgame.
Details on the film are scarce – Jonathan Majors of Lovecraft Country joins the cast as the movie’s antagonist, Kang the Conqueror. Other than that, not much else is known. The title hints that the film may explore more of the Quantum Realm introduced in Ant-Man and the Wasp, but little else is known about the plot. As of now, the film has no release date but is expected sometime in 2022.
Reed teased the film in a Twitter post on Valentine’s Day. The director placed two miniature action figures of Ant-Man and the Wasp in a bouquet of roses, a callback to their bite-sized forms when they go into the Quantum Realm. Reed wished fans a happy Valentine’s Day and used the hashtag #Quantumania alongside the photo.

While the tease itself is nothing substantial, it is a good sign that Reed is thinking about the film, which is scheduled to film soon. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, production should be completed before the end of the year. A teaser or more information could be on the way, giving fans a glimpse into the secretive film. In total, four Marvel films are already scheduled for 2022: Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, Black Panther 2, and Captain Marvel 2. After a barren 2020, Marvel is already releasing more content than ever before in 2021, so an over-sized MCU in 2022 makes sense.
When we revisit Scott Lang and friends, Phase 4 will be in full swing, so it’s possible details are scarce because of the film’s implications as to the universal events of Marvel’s biggest phase yet. Now that Scott is more well-versed in the Quantum Realm, it’s safe to safe we’ll be returning to that warped reality, but how Kang the Conqueror and Cassie Lang fit into it all remains to be seen. Barring any further COVID-related delays, some of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania‘s secrets may be revealed within the year.
